Who we are

I’m Louise - the founder of Luma and a lifelong overthinker.

Years ago, after being diagnosed with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, I was taught CBT techniques in therapy. They helped in theory, but I struggled to make them stick in daily life. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed, surrounded by post-it notes of worries, frustrated that nothing really worked.

That moment led me to build the first version of what became WorryTree - at first just for me, but slowly, others found it too.

Where we are now

Today, Luma is the next chapter: a calmer, clearer space for overthinkers, shaped by everything I’ve learned from my own experience - and from the thousands of people who’ve used the app over the years.

And I don’t run it alone. Luma is a small, UK-based, family-run business built with my wonderful husband Mark. We’re not a big app development company - just two people committed to creating something simple, inexpensive and genuinely supportive.

We created Luma because we believe no one should feel trapped by their thoughts. Everyone deserves small, practical ways to quiet the mental noise and find clarity - even on the messy days.

Why Luma isn’t free

We’re sometimes asked why Luma requires a subscription. The truth is, keeping an app secure, reliable and up-to-date costs money. From safeguarding your data to developing new features, there are ongoing costs we can’t cut corners on.

But we keep our price as low as possible because we want Luma to be accessible and we offer a 7-day free trial so that you can see if Luma is right for you. We’d rather remain a small, sustainable family business than load the app with ads, sell your data, or inflate the price.
